Unlikely color combo

I found this cover of Hilary Duff rather refreshing. I think that the bright colors and the youthful makeup complement her age very well.

Then I saw this from The Sartorialist. I felt so happy looking at it, it's great to see that the colors can work on a "real" person, and by "real" I mean a Turkish model who just so happens to be attending a Marni show kind of "real".

This is seriously an unlikely color combination. But, it works so well on both of these gals. Oh, how I wish that I too could rock the neon colors.

They do look great. I could not pull off that particular color combo, but I think that a big part of that is state of mind--how you carry yourself when you wear what you wear. And I'm not bold enough. I do however, like to inject color here and there into my black-white-gray-beige-denim wardrobe, and I'm trying to be more conscious about doing it.

I may be wrong, but wasn't this combo super popular in the late 60s early 70s. You know, along with the avacado green and gold?

i've definitely seen that color combo before. I even own some linen in similar shades that I plant to use together someday. It's very cheery, though I think I would tone it down for real life.

I was obsessed with trying to pull off that color combo a few years ago- especially with my eye make up. It reminds me of Dunkin' Donuts! But I love it- it's so bright and cheery and makes me think of Twiggy or Marimekko...

I didn't think of it at first but it's true that it's a bit dunkin donuts like ;o). I see no reason though why you could not go neon as well... Everything is in the attitude.

I bought a Hilary Duff sewing pattern this weekend (McCalls M5581). I was impressed with how cute her patterns actually are. I like them much more than the Project Runway line.
