Perfect. I mean what else can you ask for? I finished my alpaca sweater this weekend, it took me a very long time to find (go get) the right thread to finish the hem, just in time to be welcomed with mr. happy-shining-super-hard sun. Defeated, I went indoors to take these pictures as there was no way I was going to stand outside in an alpaca sweater while everyone else was wearing there daisy dukes. You can kind of see how bright everything is outside, and although it's not always true, where I live, brightness is directly proportional to temperature.
Pattern: My own
Yarn: Knitpicks Elegance in Wild Rose
Quantity: about 7 skeins (the cowl is very very yarn hungry)
Time to complete: Oh, about 9 months. I started this when I used to live in a much colder place in December and I finished on March 9, 2007.
As I mentioned, I was living in a much colder place when I started this project. This was knit in pieces. I first knit the horizontal ribbing across the chest. Then I blocked to make sure it would cover the girls. Then, I picked up stitches on one long side of the horizontal strip and knit up to do the neck shaping. Then I created a back piece. Then I sewed the two sides together. The cowl was picked up and I knit forever and ever, increasing every now and then to make sure the cowl would fold under itself nicely. The final step was to pick up all around the sweater on the bottom edge and knit down in the k3p2 ribbing pattern. I created a hem (that you can't see) so that it finished nicely. The sleeves were knit in k1p1 which I think gives a nice density to them and continues with the ribbing theme in this sweater.
Whooo, now that I am done documenting what I did. How do I feel? Well at first I was thinking, why did i choose this color, oh why did i choose this color? Then, I started playing with things in my wardrobe and I think it actually goes well and adds a nice dash of something-something to my pretty melancholy looking wardrobe.
